Egypt's transport ministry reveals details of prospective Gargoub Port's economic zone
The Ministry of Transportation revealed in a statement Tuesday the plan to develop the area surrounding Gargoub Port - whose quays will be expanded to stretch on a total of eight kilometers - located on the Mediterranean in Matrouh governorate.
The government targets to establish grain silos to fulfill local needs and export; a plant to reassemble used cars imported from South Korea and Japan and then export to African markets; pipeline to transport oil from Libya and export to European markets; container freight station for cargoes coming from East Asia and heading to North and South America; logistics center; a textile factory; shipyard to build naval boats and possibly export; plants to process crops cultivated in lands reclaimed nearby; green hydrogen plant; residential neighborhoods; tourist resorts; and entertainment areas.
