Carrefour Honors Five-Year Partnership with the Egyptian Food Bank
In line with its unwavering commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates, Carrefour, which Majid Al Futtaim owns the exclusive rights to operate in Egypt, is honoring its five-year partnership with the Egyptian Food Bank. Demonstrating a profound commitment to creating positive social impact, Carrefour’s contributions, surpassing EGP 3 million, have provided crucial food supplies, impacting over 15,000 beneficiaries. Through its long-term partnership with the Egyptian Food Bank, Carrefour aims to continue serving more people and contributing to the development of a sustainable society.
Throughout the partnership, Carrefour Egypt has actively participated in charitable campaigns and volunteer initiatives aimed at collecting donations for vulnerable families. This was demonstrated through Carrefour’s substantial contribution of supplies valued at EGP 500,000, among other monetary donations, to assist affected Palestinian civilians in Gaza amidst the current conflict. Customers also contributed by purchasing pre-packed food supply boxes directly from Carrefour stores, delivered to the families in Gaza by the Egyptian Food Bank. Additionally, Carrefour’s “Round Up Your Bill” initiative enables customers to donate the remaining change from their purchases to a good cause, whether in-store or through the MAF Carrefour app.
Furthermore, during the pandemic, Carrefour Egypt played a crucial role in supporting Egyptian communities by supplying essential food items to those affected. During the month of Ramadan, Carrefour launched the “Kart El-Kher” initiative, enabling customers to purchase the card at Carrefour stores across the country to assist in donating ready-made Iftar meals. Carrefour Egypt also participated in organizing a “Ma’edat Al Rahman” and contributed to packing charity boxes with the help of Carrefour colleagues, which was then delivered to families through the Egyptian Food Bank.
