Planning Min. Discusses with US Ambassador Enhancing Ways of Cooperation
Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Saed met with Herro Mustafa Garg, US Ambassador to Egypt, and her accompanying delegation, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, El-Saed, reviewed the role played by the Ministry in setting annual investment plans, as well as its role in ensuring that public investments are directed with the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens and increasing access to public services, by focusing on sectors that stimulate economic growth and provide decent job opportunities as well as reducing development gaps between Egypt’s governorates, according to a press release issued Friday.
She pointed to the Ministry’s role in evaluating each party’s proposed investment projects, diversifying funding sources for development plans and programmes, in addition to encouraging partnerships with the private sector, civil society and development partners to enhance development financing in accordance with the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The minister also touched on the entities affiliated with the Ministry that it supervises, referring to the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, the National Investment Bank, the Demographic Center, the National Planning Institute, in addition to the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, and the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, where she discussed the main initiatives and programs that these institutions play.
