EU working with Egypt to organise investment conference in spring: Berger
The conference will be held in cooperation with the Egyptian government during the spring season to post European and foreign businesspeople on available opportunities, Berger said in remarks to the Egyptian state news agency MENA.
Goals of the conference are to be set within a few weeks, the EU ambassador said.
The European investment plan in Egypt is estimated to cost some 9 billion euros as part of an EU strategy for Africa and the Middle East.
Berger put the volume of the actual EU portfolio in Egypt for the time being stands at about 1.3 billion euros offered in the form of loans.
Additionally, the European Investment Bank (EIB) has an annual portfolio of one billion euros dedicated to Egypt, according to Berger.
