Egypt and Saudi Arabia Collaborate to Boost Egyptian Agricultural Exports
In a recent move to bolster the nation’s agricultural export prowess, Egypt’s National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) convened with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority. The remote meeting, participated by key trade and industry officials from both nations, aimed at amplifying Egyptian exports of agricultural commodities to Saudi Arabia.
Unleashing Opportunities in Agricultural Trade
The focal point of the discussion revolved around escalating technical visits from Saudi Arabia and paving the way for Saudi markets to accept pasteurized egg products and packaged fish of European origin. This initiative marks a significant stride in strengthening the bilateral trade ties between the two nations and expanding Egypt’s agricultural export portfolio.
48th Weekly Report: A Snapshot of NFSA’s Activities
Simultaneously, the NFSA’s Information Centre released its 48th weekly report, providing insights into various activities undertaken by the authority. These included supervisory missions on food factories, registration of food facilities, and the issuance of export permits for agricultural crops. The report acts as a testament to the NFSA’s commitment towards ensuring food safety and maintaining the quality of exported agricultural products.
Egypt’s Top Agricultural Exports
The report also unveiled that beans, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, citrus fruits, strawberries, and pomegranates were among the top exported crops. These agricultural commodities primarily found their markets in Saudi Arabia, Italy, the USA, and Libya, demonstrating the global reach of Egypt’s agricultural sector.
Apart from these, the NFSA was actively engaged in conducting inspections, issuing technical reports for food samples, and participating in committees related to school meal management. The authority also played a crucial role in the inauguration of an automated meat slaughterhouse, underlining its commitment to enforce stringent food safety regulations to safeguard consumer health across various governorates.
