Egypt establishes new logistical zone in Rafah: Former official
The former head of the Reconnaissance Service, Nasr Salem announced that Egypt has established a new logistical zone in the Rafah area in order to organize the entry of aid into Gaza.
Salem explained that thousands of vehicles there have endured difficult conditions due to the long distance from al-Arish Airport or al-Arish Port to the Rafah area, as journey is about 50 kilometers.
During a phone interview with Sada el-Balad TV channel, he explained that establishing this logistics zone will serve as a great relief, easing the burden on drivers and resolving crowding in al-Arish and on the roads.
It will also help facilitate the Egyptian Red Crescent society’s work, he added.
In response to the Israeli Defense Minister’s threat to bomb the Palestinian city of Rafah, Salem said that the Israeli Defense Minister’s statement of continuing military operations during the month of Ramadan is a show of moral pressure.
Salem added that the US administration’s statements about truce negotiations in Gaza should not be relied upon, and instead called for negotiations between Hamas and Israel to end the war as soon as possible.
