Egypt Raises Public Transportation Tariffs after Fuel Hike
Cairo Governorate amended the tariffs for public transport and regional services, after the Petroleum Pricing Committee issued a decision to move the price of gasoline and diesel.
The public transport bus prices stood at 7 pounds, and air-conditioned public transport bus prices stood at 13 pounds, while minibus prices recorded 10 pounds.
The Governor of Cairo Khaled Abdel-Al indicated that the fares for rides at the service stations and the regions have been modified in order to achieve a balance between the citizen and the driver.
He stressed that banners and posters containing the new tariff prices had been placed at the entrances to all parking lots clearly in front of citizens.
Cairo Governorate decided to amend the tariff for riding a white taxi so that the tariff for opening the meter became 8.5 pounds instead of 7.5, and 4 pounds per kilometer instead of 3.5 pounds.
