Egypt banks to close for six days for Eid Al-Fitr
Banks are set to resume operation on Monday 15 April, the CBE added.
The country’s public and private sector employees will also take a six-day paid holiday, including the weekend, for the religious feast, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
This year, Ramadan in Egypt and other countries lasted 30 days with Eid Al-Fitr starting Wednesday.
However, the exact starting date will be officially determined by Egypt's Dar Al-Ifta after sighting the Shawwal crescent following the Maghrib prayer on Tuesday.
The three-day Eid Al-Fitr is one of the two religious holidays in Islam, along with the four-day Eid Al-Adha, which falls on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the twelfth month of the Islamic calendar.
