Egypt now host to tallest flagpole in the world at New Administrative Capital

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi raised on Tuesday the Egyptian flag on the highest mast in the world at the People’s Square in the New Administrative Capital.


President Sisi took the constitutional oath before the House of Representatives at its new headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to begin his new term for 2024-2030.


This is the first constitutional oath from the New Administrative Capital, and serves as an announcement of the official inauguration of the new republic.


President Sisi said: “I swear by Almighty God to faithfully preserve the republican system, to respect the constitution and the law, to fully care for the interests of the people, and to preserve the independence of the nation and the unity and integrity of its lands.”


 


Facts on the highest mast in the world:



  • The flagpole is 207.8 meters high, equivalent to the height of the Cairo Tower, and is equipped with speakers to play music, next to a dancing fountain.

  • It is built from steel with a total weight of 1,040 tons.

  • Consists of 11 parts that were installed using specialized cranes, and is decorated with a decorative golden top.

  • Serves as an important symbol of patriotism and pride for the nation, as the Egyptian flag flies tall on the flagpole.

  • Certified by the Guinness Book of Records.

  • Is located to the right of People’s Square, and the Government Quarter, and to the left of it is the legislative authority (the House of Representatives and the Senate), next to the presidential palace.
