Egypt allocates land to construct Ras al-Hikma Airport

The Egyptian Cabinet approved several decisions during its meeting on Monday headed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, most major of which being the allocation of two land plots in the North Coast, Matrouh Governorate, for the benefit of the of Civil Aviation Ministry in establishing the Ras al-Hikma International Airport.


The Cabinet approved a draft decision from the president amending the administrative boundaries of Port Said Governorate, thereby supporting the integration of development projects undertaken by the governorate.


It also approved another presidential draft decision regarding the allocation of three land plots in the Red Sea Governorate, for the use in establishing seawater desalination plants.


Egypt announced in February the largest major investment deal in partnership with the UAE, dubbed “Egypt and UAE, a Partnership for the Development of Ras al-Hikma.”


The project includes establishing hotels, entertainment projects, tourist resorts, a financial and business district, and an international airport.


This project will be the largest of its kind, as it seeks to develop a city with an area of 170 million square meters or more than 40,600 acres.
