Egypt to construct tourist walkway between Grand Museum and Pyramids
According to the statement, establishing the walkway aligns with the state's broader strategy for developing archaeological sites by linking the Pyramids Plateau and the Grand Egyptian Museum to enhance the visitor experience at these historical landmarks.
The walkway would also provide a convenient and scenic route for visitors to explore some of Egypt's most iconic landmarks, significantly boosting tourism and promoting Egypt as a premier destination for travellers worldwide.
The GEM project – which overlooks the Giza Plateau and extends over 22,000 square metres – will be Egypt's first-ever eco-friendly museum and the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilisation.
In November 2022, the GEM started hosting selected private events, and in March 2023 the museum began offering a limited number of guided tours, via online booking, in which visitors were allowed access to the Hanging Obelisk, the Glass Hall, and the Atrium.
