Egypt announced suspending the load shedding plan in churches during holidays, such Easter and Holy Week, in order to better facilitate for people celebrating these occasions.


Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed al-Hommsani on Saturday said that coordination took place between Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and the Ministers of Electricity, and Petroleum and Mineral Resources regarding the matter.


Madbouly congratulated Coptic Christians both inside and outside Egypt on the occasion of these holidays.


High-Level Forum for Energy Sector Interconnection launches April 25


The Ministry of Electricity on Sunday will hold the High-Level Forum for Energy Sector Interconnection, which is scheduled to run until Thursday in Sharm El-Sheikh.


This comes to boost cooperation with African countries and under the auspices of the Egyptian Cabinet, and is being done in cooperation with the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA) and the African Development Bank.


The forum aims to mobilize African ministers concerned with electricity and renewable energy of APUA member states, the heads of African electricity utilities, representatives of regional energy blocs, and international development partners in order to raise and discuss issues related to energy security, electricity provision, regional integrated industrialization, electrical interconnection projects, and the unified African electricity market.


The forum’s agenda includes holding a governance and leadership forum for electricity utilities, a single African electricity market forum, and a ministerial forum, in addition to organizing an exhibition on the sidelines of the forum for Egyptian and international companies and manufacturers working in the electricity and renewable energy fields.
