Shell discovers two new gas fields in Egypt

Shell's Executive Vice President of Global LNG, Cederic Cremers, announced that the company has made two new natural gas discoveries in deep waters in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Egypt, named Mina Gharb and Khufu

 

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, received on Wednesday Cremers and Dalia El Gabry, President of Shell Egypt, to discuss the company's activities and future plans in Egypt, particularly their intensified operations and well development.

 

During the meeting, El Molla emphasized that Shell is a strategic partner for the petroleum sector and has been operating in Egypt for over 110 years, achieving numerous successes. 

 

He congratulated the company on the discovery of two new gas fields, Mina Gharb and Khufu, in the Mediterranean, and their preparations to expedite development operations. 

 

The minister noted that Egypt has adopted a sustainable development strategy until 2030, with ongoing efforts to achieve its goals and overcome challenges.

 

For his part, Shell's Vice President mentioned that the company is preparing to develop its strategy in Egypt and intensify its efforts in light of the current exploration campaign and the successful discoveries of Mina Gharb and Khufu. Additionally, they are working on the development of phases 10 and 11 of the West Nile Delta Deepwater project. 

 

He highlighted Shell's recent achievements in operational efficiency, safety, and the exploration campaign that lasted over 180 days, as well as the efficient implementation of seismic survey programs. 

 

He affirmed Shell's full commitment to its operations in Egypt and appreciation for the fruitful partnership, with plans to make further discoveries, increase production, and invest more in the coming period. He also expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the Egyptian petroleum sector companies in partnership with Shell in implementing projects.
