Belgium Expresses Desire to Invest in Egypt's Electricity, Green Hydrogen Sectors
Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy received Sunday François Cornet d’Elzius, Ambassador of Belgium in Cairo to discuss ways to support and enhance cooperation between Egypt and Belgium.
The meeting discussed ways of joint cooperation between the electricity sector and Belgian companies in the fields of new and renewable energy and green hydrogen.
During the meeting, the minister referred to the state’s strategy that aims to increase the contribution of renewable energy to the electrical energy mix, and aims to reach the percentage of renewable energy’s contribution to the energy mix in Egypt to more than 42% by 2035.
The Minister welcomed benefiting from Belgian expertise in the field of green hydrogen and localizing industries related to the tasks necessary to produce green hydrogen and energy from renewable sources.
Shaker praised Belgian companies, as one of the largest international companies with extensive experience in the field of clean energy and the production and storage of green hydrogen worldwide.
François Connet pointed to the Belgian government's desire to support and enhance cooperation with Egypt to achieve its goals and use hydrogen.
He expressed his country's desire to increase the volume of investment in Egypt and increase cooperation between the electricity sector and Belgian companies.
