Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Ali Al-Moselhi, made an announcement stating that Egypt imported 750,000 tons of sugar, and four companies will provide an additional 250,000 tons.

Consequently, the deficit of 1 million tons of sugar will be filled, and Egypt will have enough stock until February 2025, when the new crop of local production arrives.

Additionally, Egypt has enough wheat to meet the local market’s needs for a duration of 5.3 months, until November 2, 2024, Moselhi added.

Currently, the total local wheat supplies amount to approximately 3.6 million tons as of May 28.

This information was shared during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to monitor the availability of goods in the markets.

The Minister of Supply confirmed that there is a strategic balance for cooking oil that covers 6.2 months until November 28.

Frozen poultry supplies are sufficient for 11.8 months until May 18, 2025.

Furthermore, the supply of fresh Sudanese meat will fulfill requirements for 8.8 months until February 18, 2025, while frozen meat will be available until July 25, 2025.

Additionally, stocks of pasta and rice are expected to meet the demand for two months.

To ensure a consistent provision of daily quantities, the Holding Company for Food Industries will distribute these goods through consumer complexes.

Regarding preparations for Eid Al-Adha and the availability of goods, Moselhi provided an update.
