Egypt Issues Circular Concerning Imports of Tuk-tuks, Motorcycles for Commercial Use
The Egyptian Customs Authority issued an import circular implementing the decision of the Minister of Trade and Industry to stop the import of three-wheeled commercial vehicles, “tuk-tuks,” and motorcycles, except for tricycles.
The Ministry of Commerce explained earlier that this decision aims to replace tuk-tuks with a safe means of transportation, in implementation of the presidential initiative to replace vehicles with clean energy, especially “natural gas,” as the government aims to make “minivans” available as an alternative to tuk-tuks.
