Egypt's Exports of Chemical Products, Fertilizers Record $2 Billion in 4 Months
Chairman of the Egyptian Export Council for Chemical Industries and Fertilizers Khaled Abu Al-Makarem said that Egypt’s exports of chemical industries and fertilizers exceeded $2 billion during the first 4 months of 2024.
The value of exports of chemical industries and fertilizers during the period from January to the end of April represented about 22% of total Egyptian exports.
Abu Al-Makarem added that chemical exports declined during January-April by about 8% compared to the same period last year.
He continued that despite the decline in the value of exports, what has been achieved represents a success for Egyptian fertilizer and chemical companies due to the decline in natural gas supplies to factories in the recent period.
Abu Al-Makarem also attributed the decline in the value of Egyptian exports of fertilizers and chemicals to the decline in the selling price of fertilizers to about $300 per ton, compared to $1,200 per ton during the past two years.
He added that Turkey and Italy were the top importers of these essential Egyptian products.
