Egypt Extends Power Outage Hours on Sunday, Monday

The Ministry of Electricity and Petroleum announced, in a press statement, Sunday, that due to the increase in local electricity consumption rates, as a result of the extremely high heat wave, and thus the increase in energy-generating gas consumption.

The load reduction period will be increased Sunday and Monday for an additional hour.

The statement stressed that this increase in load reduction will be in order to maintain the operational efficiency of electricity production stations and the national natural gas network.

Today, the National Electricity Control Center began reducing electrical loads for three hours due to the shortage of fuel and natural gas supplied to power stations, coinciding with the high consumption rates.
