Egypt's New Electricity Min. to Focus on New, Renewable Energy
The new Egyptian Minister of Electricity Mahmoud Esmat said that the electricity sector is considered a matter of national security, adding that it is an essential pillar for development in various areas of economic and social life.
The new Minister of Electricity added, in statements to Extra News, that there are directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to pay full attention to improving the quality of feeding the national grid and raising the level of services provided to citizens, in addition to resolving citizens’ complaints through the integrated system in the ministry.
The Minister confirmed the completion of what was built by Mohamed Shaker, the former Minister of Electricity, and workers in the sector, noting that the focus will be on new and renewable energy, to achieve added value and provide stable energy in the national grid, while reviewing distribution and production costs, and monitoring distribution networks using modern means.
He added that coordination is underway with all concerned parties to solve the problem of outages, secure electrical supply according to the highest quality standards, and improve productivity and efficiency, by providing high-quality electricity services and removing all obstacles that could affect the services provided to citizens.
