Electricity Min Meeting Highlights Priorities for Egypt’s Electricity Sector
Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Esmat, convened a meeting with the heads of electricity distribution companies throughout Egypt.
The purpose of the meeting was to underscore the significance of enhancing services provided to citizens and ensuring a consistent supply of electricity.
During the meeting, Minister Esmat thoroughly examined the current status of each company. This evaluation encompassed factors such as the overall electricity availability, sales and collection rates, the extent of various types of losses, the technical condition of distribution networks, as well as the formulation of maintenance programs.
Additionally, the minister emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination with all relevant entities.
Minister Esmat placed great emphasis on the necessity of maintaining a stable electricity supply, meeting the electricity requirements across various sectors, improving the quality of services offered to citizens, and attaining customer satisfaction.
He highlighted the importance of reviewing all data pertaining to operations, consumption, losses, and encroachments on the electric current, with a particular focus on the accuracy and reliability of data and readings.
Furthermore, the minister confirmed the establishment of committees, overseen by the holding company and the ministry, to conduct on-site assessments of each company’s current situation.
He also stressed the significance of intensifying legal measures to combat electricity theft through increased seizure campaigns.
