Is the Coronavirus back in Egypt?
The Head of the Scientific Committee to Combat Coronavirus at Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population Hossam Hosni reassured against fears of a potential coronavirus resurgence in Egypt.
During a phone-in with al-Hadath al-Youm channel on Saturday, Hosni said that viruses and bacteria are present in the air in general and have nothing to do with the coronavirus, adding that many Egyptians misuse medications.
A sharp change in weather leads to a lack of immunity, he said, and explained that the key factors for a healthy immune system are a sound sleep, avoiding fluctuations in the weather, no psychological stress, proper nutrition, and no smoking.
“Going from heat to air conditioning and from air conditioning to heat leads to a lack of immunity, which increases the chance of infection in the upper respiratory system or the digestive system,” he said.
Infections lead to a rise in body temperature, which causes the body to lose a lot of fluids through sweat, he said, adding that the loss of fluids causes fatigue.
Hosni indicated that all these symptoms are not dangerous, and last for two or three days, advising patients to take antipyretics and more fluids, and to avoid antibiotics except until after consulting a doctor.
