The Minister of Electricity reviewed the capabilities and plans of the national grid system for generating electricity using various types of energy, including renewables.
The Minister explained that the targeted production capacity from renewable energy projects under construction and in the future reaches about 45,000 megawatts, noting that the total current capacity of installed renewable energy from wind and solar is about 4.6 gigawatts, while the current capacity of hydropower reaches 2832 megawatts.
The Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy reviewed the status of projects under construction scheduled to enter service before the summer of 2025, as well as the status of projects under construction subject to the completion of procedures and scheduled to enter service during 2026/2027, in addition to projects with large capacities reaching 28 gigawatts of wind energy for which memoranda of understanding and agreements have been signed to provide land and conduct measurements.
