The Red Sea Water and Wastewater Company announced it has begun pumping water to residential and tourist areas in Hurghada once every eight days, amidst an increasing water crisis and calls to rationalize consumption until maintenance work begins on al-Kureimat water line and the operation of al-Yusr desalination plant at its maximum capacity.

The drinking water pumping schedule announced by the Company in Hurghada is due to the severe deficit and insufficient production of the desalination plant and the Kureimat water line for daily consumption.

Citizen complaints against water company officials have increased, due to the delay in pumping water to residents, amid demands to reduce the pumping spacing period to twice a week.

The residents of Hurghada have suffered a drinking water shortage since the beginning of the summer as the water produced by the desalination plant and the water share arriving from the Kureimat line have failed to be sufficient for daily needs.
