Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with the head of the Egyptian Drug Authority, Ali al-Ghamrawy, at the government headquarters in New Alamein City on Monday to review a report regarding the availability of medicines in the Egyptian market.

The Prime Minister said that his meeting with the head of the EDA comes as part of a periodic follow-up on developments in providing medicines in the Egyptian market.

The government has made strenuous efforts during the past months to make medicines available by facilitating the customs clearance of these medicines, Madbouly said, as well as ensure the release of raw materials necessary for the manufacturing process – which has contributed to meeting the market’s needs for medicine.

Madbouly assured that the pharmaceutical industry is one of the priority industries for the government, as part of efforts to support the pharmaceutical industry specifically and the industrial sector overall.

Ghamrawy for his part confirmed that the EDA is doing its utmost to make the medicine available in the Egyptian market, noting that the EDA has already succeeded in increasing the supply of medicine.
