Egypt engineering industry exports grow by 29.9% in 7 months

The Engineering Export Council of Egypt revealed that engineering industry exports have increased by 29.9 percent since the beginning of the year.

Moreover, engineering exports increased by 37.9 percent in July, reaching $454.5 million compared to $ 329.6 million in July 2023.


Top engineering exports during that period were cables, electrical equipment, automotive components, home appliances, electrical and electronic industries, and transportation.


In addition, cable exports increased by 36.2 percent; electrical equipment by 5.5 percent; automotive components by 32.8 percent; home appliances by 12.2 percent; electrical and electronic industries by 8.6 percent; and transportation by 152.4 percent.


The UK, Turkey, and France topped the European markets receiving engineering industry exports from Egypt. 


Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Iraq topped the Asian markets receiving engineering industry exports from Egypt.


Among African countries, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia came at the forefront of the markets receiving engineering industry exports from Egypt.


According to the Industrial Modernization Centre (IMC), investments in the engineering sector are estimated at EGP 636 billion ($13.2 billion).


Furthermore, the sector employs 19 percent of Egypt's workforce.
