Egypt Ranks Among Elite Cybersecurity Nations in 2023-2024
Egypt has achieved a prominent position in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) for 2023-2024, as published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
This milestone elevates Egypt into a distinguished cohort of 47 nations, positioning it within the top 12 countries in this exclusive group. Scoring a flawless 100 points across all ITU metrics, Egypt has outshined 194 nations globally.
This exceptional feat underscores Egypt's unwavering dedication to cybersecurity, marking a notable improvement from its 2020 score of 95.48 points.
The GCI, released biennially by the ITU, assesses countries using five fundamental criteria: regulatory policies and legislation, institutional framework, human capacity development, technical and technological capabilities, and international collaboration.
Egypt has consistently excelled in these areas, showcasing a holistic approach to cybersecurity.
This impressive progress can be attributed to the pivotal role played by the National Computer Emergency Response Team (EG-CERT), operating under the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.
The implementation of the National Cybersecurity Strategy (2023-2027) has further fortified Egypt's cybersecurity defenses.
Moreover, Egypt's proactive efforts in raising awareness about cybersecurity risks and challenges faced by individuals and organizations have been instrumental in attaining this triumph.
