Egypt adjusts electricity prices for different consumption segments
Egypt has announced a revision in electricity prices for households, set to take effect with the September billing cycle reflecting August's usage. The Electricity Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Authority (EgyptERA) disclosed the updated rates for various consumption segments:
- For the initial 0 to 50 kilowatt segment, the cost will be 68 piasters instead of 58 piasters, marking a 17 percent increase.
- In the 51 to 100 kilowatt range, the price will be 78 piasters instead of 68 piasters, indicating a 15 percent rise.
- The 0 to 200 kilowatt segment will now cost 95 piasters instead of 83 piasters, reflecting a 14 percent increase.
- Moving to the 201 to 350 kilowatt bracket, the rate stands at 155 piasters instead of 125 piasters, a 24 percent hike.
- For consumption between 350 to 650 kilowatts, the price is now 195 piasters compared to the previous 140 piasters, representing a 39 percent increase.
- The range exceeding 650 kilowatts up to 1,000 kilowatts will now be charged at LE 2.10 instead of 140 piasters, a 50 percent increase.
