Rasha Abdel Aal, Head of the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) confirmed the Authority's keenness to remove any tax obstacles and solve all tax problems facing Japanese companies investing in Egypt.

Abdel Aal said, during the joint meeting of the Japanese Ambassador and the Japan Business Association (JBA) with the Tax Authority, that in implementation of the Minister of Finance's directives to communicate continuously and effectively with the business community and investors, we always welcome any invitation to meet with our partners in success from financiers.

Head of the Egyptian Tax Authority added that we are investing this meeting to learn about all the challenges they face and work to solve them, noting that this meeting coincides with the announcement of the Ministry of Finance and the Egyptian Tax Authority of the tax facilitation package initiative.

She pointed out that our message during the coming period is to increase and enhance trust with the tax community, and remove the challenges and obstacles facing it, saying, "We believe that the more the investor and financier's investments increase and his activities and businesses expand in Egypt, this is an indicator of success for both the Ministry of Finance and the Tax Authority."

Abdel Aal explained that the Authority has been studying and identifying the challenges facing investors in Egypt in dealing with taxes during the past period, and this is the starting point for developing a vision for the facilities we provide to investors and the tax community, saying, "We are sincere in our intention to open a new page with the business community and financiers."

She added that the tax facilities package includes all categories of the business community, whether large financiers, medium financiers or small financiers, noting that these tax facilities are currently being put forward for community dialogue to receive opinions, ideas and suggestions to take them into consideration to reach a vision that satisfies all parties.

She stressed that one of the most important facilities provided by this package is the expansion of the sample inspection system to include tax centers as well, confirming the keenness to reduce the burdens on financiers, and the inspection will depend on the sample system, according to the financier's risk file.
