EdVentures invests in Egyptian education
Educational and digital content platform Nahdet Misr Group has invested in eight new startups in Egypt to enhance its investment portfolio.
The funding comes from the company's venture capital arm EdVentures, which the company says will foster innovation and improve the country's education system.
One of investments includes Saikoro, a platform that aims to make learning fun by converting more traditional educational content into digital formats and interactive games. According to the company's website, teachers can select games for students to play, as well as customise titles for their class based on pupils' previous results.
Other investments include tutoring startup Elkheta, career guidance outfit The Copywriter, and Techy App, which blends STEM learning with hands-on education.
Meanwhile, startup SchoolZ ensures safe student transportation, ArmStrong bridges STEM education with real-world applications, Tutoro connects students with teachers for in-person lessons, and InvestED helps fund students' education through corporate partnerships.
Egypt's innovative hub
The Ministry of Communications has also selected EdVentures to manage Egypt’s digital innovation hubs, starting with the "Creativa" hub in Sohag to “foster a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem across various governorates."
We recently caught up with 2024 Studios co-founder Ahmed Najeeb, who shared that: “The golden opportunity in Egypt is its talent pool. The aspiring developers, artists and designers here are full of passion and are truly willing to go beyond their limits if given a suitable environment."
Egypt-based FitNot Games founder Abdallah Elshabrawy also spoke to us about the country's growing talent pool but acknowledges that “the industry is still young and relatively small compared to other regions in the world."
Nahdet Misr Group's funding and support for startups will also allow EdVentures to expand its portfolio to 22 companies to foster a “vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem across the country.”
