Egypt keen to attract more Japanese tourists
Egypt took part in the recent Travel Expo Japan 2024, targeting Japanese tourists with displays of golf courses in Egypt and teasing the upcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, a joint venture between Japan and Egypt.
Egypt is keen to attract Japanese tourists and notes that the two countries have had a relationship dating back 150 years. Egypt’s cultural highlights, such as the Pyramids and the temples of Aswan, date back thousands of years and are a great attraction for culture-hungry Japanese.
“Egypt’s permanent participation in this major event is an affirmation of the depth of the friendship between Egypt and Japan and the Egyptian government’s keenness to sustain this friendship through the tourism industry,” Egypt’s Tourism Authority stated in a press release. It added that the Travel Expo was a great opportunity for Japanese tour companies to learn more about tourism in Egypt.
Apart from the obvious attractions in Giza, Aswan and Luxor, travelers to Egypt can also enjoy the coastal areas on the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, which feature coral reefs, rare aquatic life, and diving opportunities.
Egypt is expecting record numbers of tourists soon, thanks in part to the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum as well as a new airport in Giza, close to the Pyramids.
