Mangoes lead in Egyptian fruit exports
Last week, mangoes topped the list of fruit exports from Egypt, reaching 12,000 tons. Pomegranates and strawberries followed with 9,000 tons and 4,000 tons respectively. The National Food Safety Authority's report highlighted that Egypt exported a total of 40 different fruit types, cumulating in 32,000 tons. Sweet potatoes were the most exported vegetable at 15,000 tons, with beans and onions following at 10,000 tons and 5,000 tons. The export of vegetable varieties reached 54, totaling 36,000 tons in weight.
The General Administration Information Center's report on exports and imports noted that Egypt sent out 3,770 food shipments, weighing approximately 200,000 tons, an increase from the previous week. These exports were facilitated by 1,415 companies, showcasing a diverse range of 623 products including flour, vegetables, and other food items. This data underscores Egypt's role in the global agricultural market.
