Iraq’s rehabilitation depends heavily on Egyptian firms
The Iraqi Ambassador to Egypt, Qahtan Taha Khalaf, stated on Tuesday that Egyptian companies play an important role in infrastructure rehabilitation projects, including the Baghdad Airport Road and the construction of 130,000 housing units.
Khalaf’s remarks took place during his meeting with Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation to enhance cooperation and development efforts between the two countries.
Egyptian companies can participate further in the available opportunities to develop the Iraqi infrastructure, according to Khalaf.
The Iraqi diplomat expressed that he is looking forward to maximizing cooperation and promoting relations between Iraq and Egypt, particularly through the joint supreme committee.
The meeting is part of the Egyptian ministry’s endeavors to strengthen economic ties and cooperative development with partners in the region.
The meeting also addressed cooperation between the two countries to expand infrastructure, railways, roads, bridges, ports, and housing projects carried out in Iraq.
In light of the cooperation agreements that the two countries have signed over the past years, different Egyptian businesses are active in the Iraqi market across a range of industries.
