Japanese Otsuka to build 1st health supplements factory in Egypt
On Sunday, Minister of Investment and External Trade Hassan Elkhatib and representatives of the Japanese giant that specializes in holistic healthcare laid the foundation stone for the new project.
Production in the new factory, built by Arab Otsuka Nutraceuticals, a subsidiary of the Japanese Otsuka Group, is set to start in the second quarter of 2025, according to the Egyptian cabinet.
"The Egyptian government is building monetary, financial, and tax policies to facilitate investment and overcome any obstacles faced by local and foreign investors in Egypt, ElKhatib said.
Kyoto Taira, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Arab Otsuka Nutraceuticals, explained that the new plant will be built over 95,000 square metres.
Taira added that the company aims to expand in Egypt by establishing additional projects and creating new products to meet the needs of the Egyptian market and beyond.
Otsuka Egypt Pharmaceuticals, established in 1992 with a factory in 10th of Ramadan City, specializes in manufacturing and marketing of medicinal products, including infusion and injection fluids, amino acids, and ethical pharmaceuticals.
Ahmed Zaghloul, Chairman of Arab Otsuka Nutraceuticals and Otsuka Egypt Pharmaceuticals, said the company has created 1,050 job opportunities through its five subsidiaries in Egypt.
These subsidiaries include Otsuka Egypt Pharmaceuticals, Otsuka Al-Obour Pharmaceutical Egypt S.A.E, Otsuka Import and Export, Arab Otsuka Nutraceutical Co., and Otsuka Gypto.
