Algeria, Egypt Discuss Energy, Mining Collaboration
Algeria and Egypt are discussing ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in hydrocarbons, mining and renewable energy.
Algeria’s Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy Mohamed Arkab met with a delegation from Egypt’s Arab Contractors last week – led by Vice-Chairman El Sayed Abdel Khalek Al Wazer – alongside Egyptian Ambassador Mokhtar Gamil Tawfik Warida and Algerian ministry officials, to discuss strengthening ties between the two nations in line with directives from their leaders.
Discussions emphasized collaboration and investment opportunities between key industry players such as Algeria’s national oil company Sonatrach, state-owned electricity utility Sonelgaz, and national mining company Sonarem, along with Egyptian companies. Potential areas for collaboration include oil and gas exploration, infrastructure development, power station construction and mineral resource utilization, particularly in mining projects in Algeria.
