The Executive Office members of the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity elected Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy via Minister Mahmoud Esmat, to chair the office for the current term. The member states also chose the Kingdom of Bahrain as Vice President of the Council.

This selection underscores Egypt's pivotal role in supporting Arab cooperation within the framework of the Arab League.

The Ministry of Electricity hosted the 15th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity, which took place over two days in the New Administrative Capital, with the participation of ministers responsible for electricity, delegations, and representatives from 22 Arab countries, as well as experts and members of the Arab League's Energy Department and international funding institutions.

Esmat emphasized Egypt's commitment to continuing efforts to activate the Common Electricity Market Agreement and the comprehensive Arab electricity grid.

He pointed out that the creation of a common Arab electricity market represents the culmination of nearly two decades of efforts aimed at achieving the primary goal: the establishment of a comprehensive Arab electricity grid and a unified electricity market.

The electricity minister further highlighted the importance of completing projects related to the joint Arab electricity grid to activate the integrated Arab electricity market, managing it according to economic standards.
