Egypt, Saudi Arabia discusses mutual cooperation in farming domain

Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk discussed with Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli ways to enhance joint cooperation in modern agricultural technologies.

 

The two sides also addressed key mutual issues during the 16th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (COP 16).

 

Increasing trade opportunities for agricultural goods and products between the two nations figured high on the discussion.

 

Farouk emphasized the importance of the meeting for boosting relations between the two long-tied-countries.

 

He highlighted the importance of the meeting in strengthening ties, emphasizing that agricultural cooperation is crucial for ensuring food security.

 

Also, he mentioned potential cooperation in agricultural research, developing new crops, pest control, and combating desertification, in the aftermath of climate change challenges.

 

For his part, the Saudi minister praised the deep historical ties between the two nations and expressed hope for greater cooperation in the interest of both peoples and food security.
