Egypt preparing laws to regulate AI, data exchange and classification
Talaat announced this during a meeting with Sangbu Kim, the World Bank's vice president for Digital Transformation.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in digital transformation, developing digital infrastructure, raising digital awareness, and improving digital skills.
The discussions also covered key achievements from the World Bank's technical assistance programme in public data governance and real estate wealth management.
In 2023, the World Bank Group approved a $7 billion Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for Egypt (FY2023-2027) to support inclusive, sustainable growth, job creation, private sector development, climate action, and regional integration. This aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the National Climate Change Strategy.
Egypt’s digital transformation strategy
Moreover, Talaat highlighted Egypt's digital transformation strategy, which includes creating a robust legislative framework for governing communications and information technology.
He discussed ongoing efforts to develop digital infrastructure, such as extending fibre optic cables and replacing copper cables across the country.
These projects are essential for improving sector performance through technology, digitizing government services, and preparing youth for future jobs.
Furthermore, the minister emphasized the importance of supporting innovation and creating mechanisms to encourage citizens to use digital platforms.
