Egypt, US to promote trade, Investment in healthcare Sector
The 'Direct Line' call is the first in a series of discussions the ambassador will hold with senior Egyptian officials to highlight key business opportunities for American companies in Egypt. The discussions will focus on priority sectors that will strengthen bilateral economic ties.
The companies participating in the call, located in 27 US states and territories, offer innovative, affordable, and high-quality healthcare solutions and services.
"Today's Direct Line call will increase US-Egyptian cooperation in the vital sector of healthcare and medical technology," Garg stated, adding that this call is the latest example of US-Egypt efforts to strengthen commercial ties following the second session of the Joint Economic Commission, the Strategic Dialogue, and Trade and Investment Framework talks held this fall.
Currently, over 1,000 US-affiliated companies are operating in Egypt.
Bilateral trade in goods between the US and Egypt reached $6.9 billion in 2023. Egypt remains the largest recipient of US foreign direct investment in Africa, attracting $13.7 billion in investments that year.
The US government also encourages Egyptian companies to view the US market as a prime investment destination through the SelectUSA program.
SelectUSA, a US government initiative led by the Department of Commerce, promotes job-creating business investments in the US and underscores the importance of economic development. Since its inception, the program has facilitated over $250 billion in investments and helped create or retain more than 230,000 US jobs.
