With its permanent office in Nairobi, MCS is an IT solutions provider specializing in security intelligence, cybersecurity, and network infrastructure.
It operates in 10 eastern and central African countries, alongside Egypt and the Gulf region.
Shabaka made his remarks to Ahram Online on the sidelines of a press conference on Monday, which announced details about the seventh edition of the Future of Digital Countries (FDC) Summit 2025, which Egypt will host in April.
Shabaka also serves as the chairman of the FDC’s organizing committee.
Amid evolving cyber threats, Egypt plans to be a tech hub in the region. Therefore, it has adopted national strategies for cybersecurity, AI, e-commerce, digital Arabic content, open-source software, and the Egyptian Government Cloud.
The country has also established the Egyptian Supreme Cybersecurity Council (ESCC), reporting to the cabinet.
Shabaka told Ahram Online that the big challenge facing digital transformation in Egypt is the lack of awareness about the industry and the threats users are likely to face while using digital products.
He added that the summit's seventh edition serves as a platform for industry professionals to discuss their challenges and explore the best ways to address them.
The summit is organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, with official support from the Central Bank of Egypt, the ministries of finance, higher education, and electricity, the ESCC, and the National Telecom Regulatory Authority.
The 2025 edition, which will be held under the theme “The Regional Platform For the Digital Industry,” will be a comprehensive event for the telecommunications and information technology industry.
It will address five key topics, including digital transformation, digital infrastructure, the data centre industry, and advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and virtual reality.
Additionally, it will discuss developments in the cybersecurity sector.
The summit will host various events, including FDC Roundtables, which will focus on the requirements of different sectors in the digital transformation ecosystem, and the FDC Research Forum, the first forum for research and development.
Other events include FDC Stars, which organizes the first Lounge for Arab and African Investors, and the launch of Egypt and Africa's first cybersecurity index.
