Egypt Tops Africa with Highest Number of Satellites in Orbit
Egypt ranked the first in Africa with the highest number of satellites in orbit, sharing the top spot with South Africa with 13 satellites, followed by Nigeria with seven and Algeria with six, according to a fresh report published by Business Africa.
The report highlighted a growing trend among African countries to increase their ownership of satellites due to their crucial role in monitoring climate developments.
The platform, citing data from the African Space Industry Annual Report, revealed that 125 new satellites are planned for development and launch in 23 African countries in 2025.
The global space economy is estimated at approximately $469 billion, while Africa's space industry, valued at $19.49 billion in 2021, and is projected to grow by 16.16% to reach $22.64 billion by 2026.
