El-Sisi, Greek Prime Minister discuss strengthening bilateral ties
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis today during the 10th Trilateral Mechanism Summit involving Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece.
Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed El-Shinawy highlighted that the meeting reinforced the historic relationship between Egypt and Greece and their shared dedication to deepening the partnership and advancing collaboration across various sectors.
The discussions centered on enhancing economic cooperation, with a focus on strengthening ties within the East Mediterranean Gas Forum and expediting the electricity interconnection project between the two nations. Both leaders also stressed the importance of collaboration on migration and seasonal labor recruitment, aiming to expand joint efforts into other areas of mutual interest.
Regional issues, particularly the Palestinian situation, were also addressed. The two leaders emphasized the need to end hostilities, facilitate humanitarian aid to Gaza, and work toward achieving a two-state solution, reaffirming their commitment to peace and stability in the region.
