Egypt is one of the world's oldest ancient civilizations. It is known for having the oldest pyramids in the world, which can still be visited todayancient mummies adorned with gold tongues and nails, and tombs dating back 4,000 years. Beyond its many ancient archaeological discoveries, the country's infrastructure is constantly evolving, as it is home to over 111 million people.

Egypt's public transportation systems include buses, metro lines, and taxis. However, with around 2.16 billion people heavily relying on these methods, many challenges, such as overcrowding, accidents, and reduced efficiency, have been prevalent in Egypt for years.

To address these issues, the Egyptian government is beginning a large-scale project to build a new high-speed rail system to connect over 60 cities across the country. In addition to increasing connectivity between cities, the $23 billion project promises to boost the economy, improve travel efficiency, and make travel more environmentally friendly.

However, is the project revolutionary enough to offset the challenges of Egypt's current rail system? This article will explore Egypt's rail history, the vision behind the new high-speed rail, and the progress made.
