Egypt awaits final approval on fourth tranche of IMF loan

Egypt is awaiting final approval on a $1.2 bil loan tranche from the IMF as part of its fourth program review, following delays in the disbursement.

Informed sources said on Saturday that the date of the meeting of the Executive Directors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the US capital, Washington, will be determined soon.


The spokesperson for the IMF, Julie Kozack, said on Friday that the Executive Board of the Fund is expected to discuss the fourth review of Egypt’s program in the coming weeks.


Kozack’s statements came during the meeting of the Executive Board of the Fund to discuss the fourth review of the program, after the IMF’s expert mission announced it had reached an agreement with the Egyptian authorities regarding the review on December 24.
