Turkish ambassador highlights strong textile ties at Denim & Jeans exhibition in Egypt
Turkish Ambassador to Egypt, Salih Mutlu Şen, inaugurated the Denim and Jeans Exhibition today in Cairo, underscoring the deepening industrial and trade cooperation between Turkey and Egypt, particularly in the textile sector.
The two-day exhibition brought together approximately 55 companies from 10 countries, including a notable representation of 26 Turkish companies.
In his opening speech, Ambassador Şen emphasised the significant role Turkish companies play in Egypt’s denim production, stating, “Turkish companies attach great importance to investment in Egypt and are keen to grow in Egypt by reinvesting what they earn here.”
Ambassador Şen also highlighted that Turkish businesses have been instrumental in positioning Egypt as a denim powerhouse, attracting major international brands that source their denim goods, particularly jeans and blue jeans, from Egyptian production lines.
He praised the pioneering efforts of Turkish companies in this industry, which he said exemplify a strong model of sustainable growth.
Stressing the mutually beneficial economic ties between Turkey and Egypt, Ambassador Şen said, “The win-win industrial and trade relations between Turkey and Egypt are most clearly evident in the textile sector, especially in denim fabrics and clothing.”
The thriving textile partnership is part of a broader trade relationship between the two nations. Bilateral trade is expected to surpass $10 billion this year, with projections of reaching $15 billion within the next five years, signifying a robust and promising economic collaboration.
