US Apache to begin drilling in Egypt's Western Desert

Apache Corporation, a US hydrocarbon exploration company, will begin an intensive drilling program in March in its concession areas in Egypt's Western Desert, aiming to increase natural gas production by an additional 80 million cubic feet, an informed Egyptian source told the Asharq broadcaster.

The Egyptian government is working to increase the quantities of natural gas available, in order to meet the country's needs, especially in the electricity sector, during the summer months. According to the source of "Asharq", Apache Corporation intends to increase its daily production of natural gas in Egypt to 500 million cubic feet per day by the end of the current fiscal year 2024-2025, with investments exceeding $60 million.
