Vodafone Egypt’s new initiative aligns with Egypt’s digital transformation process and will strengthen ties with the Egyptian media industry.

Vodafone Egypt launched the platform during a press conference on Sunday at their headquarters in Cairo.

Prominent media figures in attendance included Ahmed Badawy, chairman of the communication committee at the House of Representatives; Hossam Saleh, CEO of United Media Services; Yasser El-Mabaadi, secretary-general of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation; Mohamed El-Baz, board chairman and editor-in-chief of Al-Dostor newspaper; and Dr. Mahmoud Fakhr El-Din, head of the central administration for automation projects at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Vodafone Egypt’s vice president for external relations and legal affairs, Ayman Essam, and head of external communications and media, Mai Yassin, were also present

The platform supports their digital transformation strategy, across health, education, financial inclusion, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through close collaboration with government ministries and agencies.

"The launch of the digital platform for journalists is a continuation of Vodafone Egypt's efforts in digital transformation and professional engagement with Egyptian media in an innovative way. Journalists are vital partners in Vodafone's success in the Egyptian market,” said Essam.

“The platform aims to serve as a sophisticated link available around the clock to meet journalists' needs and provide necessary support. While it is a modern digital platform, it will not replace traditional communication channels with journalists but will significantly enhance them for a more efficient and rapid communication experience,” he added.

It streamlines communication for media representatives, allowing them to effortlessly request interviews, submit enquiries, and remain informed about the latest press releases and information

The press conference also included a discussion session titled “How Digital Transformation Impacts the Media Landscape in Egypt,” which explored the effects of the digital revolution on traditional media practices and the challenges journalists encounter amid this shift. The session, moderated by Ayman Essam, featured contributions from Ahmed Badawy, Hossam Saleh, and Mohamed El-Baz.

Key topics included technology's impact on digital content and media institutions' use of social media to reach audiences. The session highlighted the telecommunications sector's support for journalists through digital solutions and improved partnerships for better outcomes.
