Khaled Hassan Soughy, Chairman of the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS), officially assumed the ISO presidency following Egypt’s victory in the organization’s elections, securing the support of 63 member states against 49 votes or Argentina.

He will serve a three-year term from 2026 to 2028, becoming the first Arab and second African to head the international body since its establishment in 1947.

Soughy described the win as a remarkable national achievement, aligning with the directives of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to enhance the quality of life for Egyptians and improve service standards.

He also credited the efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Transport, led by the minister Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, to empower Egyptian professionals to assume leading international roles.

He noted that the result reflects the growing international confidence in Egypt’s ability to contribute effectively to the development of global and regional quality infrastructure.

"This victory underscores Egypt’s strong presence in international forums and reaffirms its leadership in advancing quality and sustainability policies worldwide," Soughy said.
