The issue of Egypt's informal economy has been of major importance in the past weeks, especially ever since street vendors were faced with new regulations from the state.
This study provides an overview of who Egypt's street vendors are, what characteristics they carry and what they aspire to.
Within the framework of the Federation of Economic Development Associations (FEDA) endeavors to develop a draft law regulating the work of street vendors, this study sets out to identify the inputs required to operationalize a law that addresses street vendors’ problems and overcomes the obstacles that lead to random irregularities as well as to guarantee the rights of the workers in this sector.
