The EU-Egypt Association Agreement provides Egypt with preferential access to the EU market of 500 million consumers. Under the agreement, EU member nations have opened their markets to Egyptian manufactured goods, while Egypt is phasing in access for similar European products. The agreement is also seeing the negotiation of significant liberalization in the trade of agricultural products, and each party enjoys Most Favored Nation status from the other in regard to trade in services. The agreement specifies the creation of a free-trade agreement over a period of 12 years.
