Cemex Egypt launches decarbonisation equipment at Assiut cement plant

Cemex Egypt has inaugurated new decarbonisation equipment at the Assiut cement plant, aligning with its ‘Future in Action’ sustainability strategy.

The Minister announced that exports of building materials increased during the first months of the current year to 2 billion and 876 million dollars.

Cemex has entered an agreement with the authorities in Egypt's Gharbia province to operate the first facility of its circularity solutions business.

Breaking down the specifics, iron and steel exports surged by 65 percent to reach $2.3 billion in 2023, compared to $1.4 billion in 2022.

Egypt has risen to become Africa’s leading cement producer, boasting an impressive annual production capacity of around 92 million tonnes.
